Message from the Principal

Welcome to Como Primary School! 

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the new principal of Como Primary School.

My name is Jasmine Abbey Bell, and I have served in education since 2013. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve students, teachers, and schools in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, Multi-Classroom Leader, Instructional Coach, Secondary Professional Development Coordinator, Regional Digital Learning Coordinator, Program Manager, and Principal. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.

While my journey has taken me through many areas of education, one thing has remained constant: my passion for literacy and helping students reach their fullest potential. I have spent much of my career supporting schools in strengthening literacy instruction, building coaching systems, and creating structures that help both students and teachers succeed.

What excites me most about leading Como Primary is that this is where the journey begins. This is where confident readers are developed, where a love for learning is nurtured, and where the foundation for future success is built. The work we do in Pre-K through second grade matters because it opens doors to every opportunity that follows.

This year, our theme is Level Up: Unlocking New Worlds Through Reading. Together, we will create a school where students learn, grow, and level up academically, socially, and emotionally. We will place a strong emphasis on literacy and ensure every child receives the support they need to become a successful reader and lifelong learner.

I believe children thrive when they know they are seen, heard, loved, and capable. I believe teachers do their best work when they feel supported and empowered. I believe families are essential partners in a child's success, and I look forward to building strong relationships with each of you.

Outside of school, I am a proud wife, mother, dog mom, reader, and calligraphy enthusiast. I enjoy creating custom signs and unique gifts using my hand lettering and calligraphy, but most of all, I enjoy spending time with the people I love.

I am honored to join the Como community and excited for the year ahead. Together, we will build a strong foundation, celebrate growth, and help every child leave Como Primary ready for the next level.
